Rules for the Use of Individual Work Cubicles and Acoustic Pods at the AGH University Main Library

General Provisions

  1. Individual work cubicles and Acoustic pods are made available to Users during the opening hours of the relevant Library agenda.
  2. The following persons are entitled to use the Cubicles:
    1. AGH students,
    2. AGH doctoral students,
    3. AGH employees,
    4. other Users authorised to use the collections and services of the Library under the Regulations governing the use of collections and services of AGH University Main Library in Kraków, subject to the approval of the head of the relevant Internal unit.
  3. The use of the Cubicles is subject to the possession of an active Library account and a valid Document entitling access to the Library.
  4. A User may make reservations for Cubicles for various dates. On any given calendar day, a User may hold only one reservation, irrespective of the Cubicle location or type (Individual work cubicles or Acoustic pod). Reservations with overlapping usage periods are not permitted.
  5. At present, reservations may be made via the reservation form or directly through a member of the Library staff on duty. In the near future, reservations will also be available through the Library system after logging in to the Library account.
  6. A User who wishes to cancel a Cubicle reservation is required to do so immediately through the Library system, in person, by telephone, or by e-mail.
  7. Failure to appear within 15 minutes of the scheduled reservation start time shall be regarded as a cancellation and will result in the reservation being cancelled.
  8. The period of use of a Cubicle may be extended, provided that it has not been reserved by another User. Such an extension is treated as part of the existing reservation and does not constitute an additional reservation.
  9. Persons using the Cubicles are required to comply with the Regulations governing the use of collections and services of AGH University Main Library in Kraków, these rules, the regulations applicable in Reading rooms, and the instructions of the Library staff.
  10. The consumption of food and beverages is prohibited in the Cubicles.
  11. Coats, umbrellas and large luggage must be left in the cloakroom or in the Lockers.
  12. The User bears full responsibility for the equipment provided in the Cubicle and is required to leave the workspace in a proper condition. In the event of damage to equipment or missing property, a Damage or Property Destruction Report for the Cubicle shall be prepared as the basis for assessing the damage and pursuing claims.
  13. The Library accepts no responsibility for personal belongings or private equipment left in a Cubicle by a User.
  14. Any Library materials made available for on-site consultation must be returned to the Library staff no later than 15 minutes before the closing of the relevant Reading room.
  15. Personal items left in a Cubicle after the reservation period has ended may be transferred to storage by the Library staff, while any Library materials left behind may be returned to the collections.
  16. Violation of these rules may result in temporary or permanent withdrawal of the right to use the Cubicles. Such decisions shall be made by the AGH University Main Library in Kraków upon the request of the head of the relevant Internal unit.

Individual Work Cubicles

  1. Individual work cubicles are intended for individual study and work.
  2. Each workstation within an Individual work cubicle is intended for use by one person at a time.
  3. Individual work cubicles are made available for:
    1. up to one week to AGH employees and AGH doctoral students,
    2. up to one day to AGH students,
    3. up to one day to all other authorised Users.
  4. Before using a Cubicle, the User shall report to the Library staff in order to collect the key, presenting a valid Document entitling access to the Library.
  5. The issued key remains in the sole possession of the User throughout the reservation period and may not be lent to third parties.
  6. At the end of each day of use, the User is required to lock the Cubicle and return the key promptly to the Library staff.
  7. In the event of the loss of or damage to a key, the User shall bear the costs of producing a duplicate key and replacing the lock cylinder in accordance with the current Price list of services and fees collected at AGH University Main Library.
  8. The Library staff has the right to enter a Cubicle in emergency situations, for inspection purposes or to secure property, including during the User’s absence.
  9. Users may use their own study materials, electronic devices and Library materials made available by the Library.
  10. When leaving the Cubicle, the User is required to lock the door.

Acoustic Pods

  1. The Library provides:
    1.  a two-person and a four-person Acoustic pod in the Main Reading Room,
    2. a two-person Acoustic pod in the Reference Department Reading Room.
  2. Acoustic pods are intended primarily for remote and hybrid meetings, consultations, project group work, teaching-related discussions and study activities requiring verbal communication, without disturbing other Users present in the Reading room.
  3. The number of people simultaneously occupying an Acoustic pod may not exceed the maximum capacity specified for that pod (2 or 4 persons respectively).
  4. The use of Acoustic pods is permitted until no later than 15 minutes before the closing of the relevant Reading room.
  5. A User beginning or ending the use of an Acoustic pod is required to notify the Library staff on duty.
  6. Reserved Acoustic pods may not be transferred to third parties without the knowledge and consent of the Library staff.
  7. Workstations in Acoustic pods are equipped with desks, a ventilation system, adjustable lighting and electrical power points enabling connection of personal computer equipment.
  8. When leaving an Acoustic pod, the User is required to switch off the lighting (where it is not automated), tidy the workstation and ensure that the door is properly closed.

Final Provisions

  1. The proper allocation and use of Cubicles shall be supervised by the heads of the relevant Internal units.
  2. The template of the Damage or Property Destruction Report for the Cubicle constitutes Appendix No. 1 to Letter No. 3/2026 of the Director of AGH University Main Library dated 6 October 2026.
