Entrance to the database

Reaxys is a comprehensive database and discovery from Elsevier, supporting research in chemistry, pharmacy, and materials science. The platform provides fast access to reliable data, scientific literature, and patent information.

The database includes:

  • approximately 450 core journals and reference works covering organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry, as well as materials science, petrochemicals, pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, and computational chemistry,
  • more than 16,000 chemistry-related journals, including conference abstracts,
  • patents from all major patent offices worldwide, including those in the United States and Asia,
  • data on more than 105 million chemical compounds and over 42 million chemical reactions.

Reaxys enables users to:

  • perform advanced searches of chemical structures, reactions, keywords, and properties,
  • combine structure-based searches with text-based searches,
  • easily and effectively search of relevant scientific literature and patents,
  • plan synthesis routes for known and unknown compounds (retrosynthesis modules, including predictive AI-assisted retrosynthesis),
  • share data across institution,
  • compare own experimental data with published results.

The AI-powered Reaxys AI Search tool:

  • allows users to ask questions in natural language (AI-enhanced Quick Search feature),
  • generates summaries for selected queries based on the titles and abstracts of the 20 most relevant documents. Each summary includes references to source materials, enabling rapid verification of information and direct access to full-text publications (AI-generated Literature Summaries feature).

All AI functionalities are designed in accordance with principles of responsible AI use. User queries are neither stored nor used to train external language models, and all responses are generated exclusively from Reaxys content.
